Payment & Funding Options for Doula Services

At Your Doula Maia, we believe every family deserves access to quality doula care. As a certified doula, my clients may be eligible for reimbursement and funding options for their doula services.

We offer multiple ways to help you afford our services, including insurance reimbursements, employer benefits, and flexible spending accounts. Below are the ways you can pay for doula services:

1. Out-of-Pocket Payments

Families can choose to pay for doula services directly. We accept various payment methods, including bank transfers, Zelle, Cash and payment plans. We strive to make doula care accessible, so if you need a flexible payment plan, let’s discuss options that work for you.

2. Carrot Fertility Benefits

If your employer offers Carrot as part of your benefits package, you may be eligible for reimbursement of doula services. Carrot covers various fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum-related expenses. Check with your HR department to see if your plan includes doula support and how to submit for reimbursement. For reimbursement, I will provide my certification and a Superbill, which you can submit to your provider.

3. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) & Health Savings Accounts (HSA)

Many families use FSA or HSA funds to cover doula services. These accounts allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars for qualifying medical expenses, which may include doula support. For reimbursement, I will provide my certification and a Superbill, which you can submit to your provider.

5. Private Health Insurance Reimbursement

While most private health insurance plans do not directly cover doula services, some offer partial reimbursement. I will provide my certification and a Superbill (detailed invoice) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. We recommend calling your provider in advance to check if they cover doula services under maternal or out-of-network benefits.

5. Medicaid & Medical Coverage

In some states, Medicaid or state-funded medical insurance programs cover doula services as part of maternal health benefits. If you have Medicaid, check with your provider to see if doula support is included. If approved, services may be billed directly to your insurance, or you may need to seek reimbursement. I will provide my certification and any necessary documentation to support your claim.

6. Employer Benefits & Wellness Stipends

Some companies provide wellness or parental stipends that can be used for doula services. Check with your HR department to see if your employer offers financial support for birth or postpartum care.

How to Get Started

  1. Check with Your Provider – Contact your insurance company, employer, or benefits administrator to verify coverage.

  2. Request a Superbill – If eligible for reimbursement, I will provide an itemized receipt and my certification to submit to your provider.
